Another fantastic night at Coastal Board Gamers. New games at the table for the first time and plenty of old favourite. Big games and small games, long games and short games. We had it all. Here is what made it to the table this time;
When a Kickstarter finally comes in we all can get a little excited to play it. Rules get read, play throughs get watched, cards get sleeved all in anticipation of that first play.
Chris was very excited to get this to a table!

Distilled.
A game of buying ingredients, putting them in you still and seeing what you can make. Distilled is a push your luck game with a euro feel. Setting up your inherited distillery with the right equipment and staff, then choosing quick points with a straight spirit or to age your recipe for more points later.
Just One.
A wonderful game of tell the key player what word they have chosen without using that word. The catch is if anyone else uses the same word as you, the key player doesn’t get to see that word. So if the word is “Parrot” and 2 or more people write “Bird” then “Bird” is out and they will have to guess using only the remaining words.

Can you guess what this word was? Answer at the end of the Blog.
Terra Mystica.
Tim and Mike got to try out Terra Mystica. Jarrod and Kathryn taught them the ins and outs of this fan favourite. While neither won they are both keen to try it again and see if they can improve their strategies. An area control game with each player having unique powers, Terra Mystica tests a players ability to not only strategise but be able to react to your opponents in time to foil their plans, “I could see he (Jarrod) was setting up to cut me off but by then there was nothing I could do about it” – Mike.

We also had some big announcements over dinner. Coastal Board Gamers is moving! We have found a new venue in Ulverstone at Apex House. This will be from Event #67 onwards. The venue has carpet, large rectangle tables, 80 chairs and kitchen. There is also the possibility of storage in the future for CBG to use.
We will still stick to the same routines, stopping at 6pm for a meal, but attendees will need to organise their own meal. For this you can either bring something along or head into town for one of the many take away options. The aim of Coastal Board Gamers is “Building a board gaming community” so we do ask that you return with your meal and enjoy it together at Apex House.
Gaming Tables will be closed at this time.
Event #67 1st April
This will be our first event at Apex House. This event will be our last pizza night. As with our other pizza nights CBG will organise, Order and pick up Pizza. You will need to place your order by 5:30pm. If you are running late and still would like to join us for pizza please make sure to reach out to us via social media.
There will also be a small tournament running on the night.
Bites – by Brigitte Ditt, Wolfgang Ditt
“Players move ants along a trail and collect food as they go. However, the value of that food depends on how the other ants move.” – boardgamegeek.com
Did you guess the word?
