Event # 55 Wrap Up

“Look at me” said Event #55, I don’t know if it was the extra sugar from all the cakes we had as we got to celebrate 3 members birthdays today or if there was just an air of mischief and mayhem about.

Happy Birthday James, Talita (ME!!!) and Belinda.

The day started off great as there were a lot of teaching games happening, with Pat teaching Magic Maze (a co-op where no one can talk) and Mike teaching Eclipse (this is the game that set the mood for the rest of the night.) Carl was still scarred from his previous game of Eclipse while Tim and Jared struck a diplomatic friendship….only to be torn apart later as Tim betrayed Jared’s trust. Tim was beaten in battle with his final war cry “I’ll die in battle.” Carl was building ships that “If you sneeze they’ll blow up” and Mike took the glory of defeating the ominous egg (big alien ship).

The games played
Telestrations x2
Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy
Magic Maze
Living Forest
Azul: Queens Gardens
Bunny Kingdom
Trash Pandas
Flame Craft
Arabian Nights
Aeons End
Glow
Ligretto
Honey Buzz
Cosmic Frog

Katy was teaching Living Forest and set the forest ablaze, a lot of bunnies bred in Bunny Kingdom which was taught by James. Flame Craft has seem to become a favourite at Coastal Board Gamers as it has made the tables again this week as a teaching game.

The people have spoken and asked that the game of Arabian Nights be recorded here for all to see, mainly Belinda’s misfortune of ending up with several negative status’s and general bad luck in the game.

During announcements we had the pleasure of hearing about PAX from some members that had the pleasure to go previously and some that are going this year.

The night ended with scores being settled and new rivalries being encouraged being born in the chaos of Cosmic Frog.

Mike started the game with a plea to be friends which fell on deaf ears, as the Mindborer frog ruined any chance of peace thanks to Josh. You know the game is gonna be salty when someone runs to get the salt packets and a pepper packet to which was questioned “What’s with the pepper?” and the reply “Pew pew pew.” Shots were fired within the first three turns as Carl ended up in the Outer Dimension for no reason other than “Cause I could.”

All in all a great way to spend an evening is at Coastal Board Gamers playing, learning and teaching people to play board games. Making new friends and awesome memories.
