I was on the Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy table again. 6 plays in a down and this was to be 7th! Josh joined us for his first game of galaxy dominating, table hogging fun. Mike and Pat were keen to try out new races as I continued my quest to play each race once.
The game went quite well to start with. Peace treaties all around the table. I was playing my little Euro game in a nice section of the galaxy I had built for myself. The others were dancing around each other, no one wanting fire the first shot and claim the traitor tile.
As a deterrent I continued to build stronger ships, to the point of running out of minis. Pat also built a larger and larger fleet. It appeared to be a cold war between the two of us, with an arms race showing no end.
This was all a ploy.

Pat had no intention of crashing his equally impressive fleet against mine. He had a much softer target in mind…….
He never saw it coming. He never prepared. All the doors were open and the welcome mat was out. Through a newly discovered warp portal they came. Not in large numbers but with devastating strategy and accuracy. The Orion Hegemony, aka Pat, with their HUGE SHIPS, methodically eliminated Mikes section of the galaxy system by system…. Talita would have been so proud.
Well, was it enough? With all the points gained in his last ditched betrayal of Mike, Pat had earned enough points to beat me?……
We tallied the points. Only Mike knew the scores.
It was close…..

Then the Traitor Tile -2…….
I managed to finally win a game of Eclipse: Second dawn for the galaxy,
by 1 POINT!
What a fantastic game. Every time you play it is a different experience. If you ever get the opportunity, I strongly recommend having a go. I think it will be my favourite game of 2022! And will live in my top 10 for a long time to come.
December will bring a big finish to 2022, with three CBG events this month.

Great game! One gaming experience that will be remembered and relived for many years to come!
