As the afternoon got underway, two brave tables were trying brand new games that no participants had played before. These games were Living Forest and Azul: Queen’s Garden. Unfortunately, the players learning Azul: Queen’s Garden did not enjoy the game at all! Even though it looked very nice they played a few rounds and all agreed not to finish the game. Matt stated, “it is too clunky”, and others around the table agreed. That wasn’t a good start. However, the other table went much better enjoying Living Forest so much they immediately played a second game. All players were finding the deck building aspect of the game interesting and the beautiful animal cards delightful.

Cubitos is a racing game that builds pools of dice, lots of dice, with a push your luck element like The Quacks of Quedlinburg. Use bonuses to buy strategically chosen dice with various powers. Roll and re-roll to race around the track but don’t push it to hard or you may bust! This game looks colourful with interesting components and great custom dice. This is one of Marion’s favourite games, holding a fist full of dice she said, “I want to roll again, but I shouldn’t because its too dangerous.”

Wonderland’s War is highly recommended by everyone who as played it and is fast becoming a favourite. Talita said on discord, “Played wonderlands wars at CBG last night. Really good game, you get to go round the Mad Hatter’s tea party collecting cards and sending out your units to prepare for battle. In the battle phase you’re pushing your luck to not go mad and win, what’s better is even if you’re not in a particular battle you can bet on it so you’re still a part of the game.” Katy also commented, “I love this game. You think it would be an easy play but it leaves you wanting more.” This game may be one to look out for at a future event if you have not tried it yet.
